CONSULTATIONS - DOG-CENTRED, INSIDE-OUT UNDERSTANDING, FORCE-FREE

If you have an over-reactive or particularly nervous dog, understanding their Functional Character can be the first step in addressing the underlying cause of their behavior challenges.

We offer home visits within a 50-mile radius of Yarm, North Yorkshire, as well as worldwide online consultations.

Our specialties include canine functional characters, the impact of diet on behavior, and serious over-reactivity. However, you’re welcome to book a consultation to discuss anything you like—as long as it’s about dogs!

  • Does your dog react to some dogs but not others?
  • Are they fearful of everyday things?
  • Refusing to go for walks?
  • Tried different trainers or methods and nothing has changed?

These are some of the most common challenges dog guardians face - and they rarely resolve with surface-level training alone.

Most behaviourists look at behaviour. I look beneath it. And I look inside your dog - because their behaviour is only the outward expression of what’s happening on the inside - emotionally, biologically, and instinctively.

I’ve integrated Functional Character understanding into my behavioural work for a decade now, and this enables me to recognise the internal role your dog is naturally wired to fulfil, the emotional needs that go with it, and why some situations will always be harder for them than others.

This deeper layer of understanding is what makes my consultations different: I don’t treat symptoms - I interpret who your dog is.

I specialise in uncovering what’s really driving your dog’s behaviour by looking at everything from the inside out:

  • history, potential trauma, and past learning
  • emotions and fears, and social safety
  • health, neuter status, and diet
  • environmental pressures
  • lifestyle mismatches

and, where discernible, elements of their functional character.

A full Functional Character assessment isn’t included in Zoom consultations - this is only accurate when done in a workshop setting with my Canine Event Team. But if your dog’s natural character traits become clear during our time together, I will naturally incorporate that into your guidance and recommendations.

No generic training plans.  No “one-size-fits-all” methods. No quick fixes.

Just thoughtful, evidence-based support designed around the unique dog in front of you.

You can access expert, dog-centred help wherever you are. My specialist areas include:

  • Canine Functional Characters
  • How diet affects behaviour
  • Serious over-reactivity and fear-based behaviour

Ideal for: first-time enquiries, simple questions, or quick support.

A focused 30-minute Zoom session for quick clarity and expert direction - perfect if you’re unsure which consultation you need, want reassurance about your dog’s behaviour, or simply need to talk something through before committing to a full session.

No forms required - just join the call and get the answers you need.
